In honor of the newest rude boy and my nephew, Desmond Alexander Beach, here is a track by his father's band The Uptones. Desmond was born 9:38 AM on Saturday and I couldn't be more proud or happy for his parents, Adam Beach and Erin King. It's a great thing!
The Uptones have been skankin' since 1981 when they were wee high school students in Berkeley, CA. They were the first west coast ska band and went on to influence the Berkeley ska/punk scene including Operation Ivy, Rancid, Green Day, and, well the whole 924 Gilman thing.
This song was recorded back in the day, but the band has gotten back together and is about to release a new album. Expect it soon.
