Take a walk up around the Hollywood Reservoir and you really will see hawks, so I See Hawks in L.A. is not some made-up name conjured up on some desert psychedelic freak-out, or maybe it is, who knows... In any case, ISHILA churn out the best country and western rock since Gram Parsons: hallucinatory, soul-searching, authentic, and makes me damn proud to say they are from L.A.
"Don't Bury Me" is a great boot-scootin' pondering on the afterlife from their debut album, but these guys are on their third full-length and if you don't have them in your collection, you gotta get with the program.
When not preaching their hawkish message upon adoring club-goers in La-La land, they have been know to pack up the bus and preach their gospel across to the unwashed masses across the land. They just finished up a tour of the UK, and I hope it's a sign of good things to come for them. They more than deserve it.
